DRUG ADDICTION

Drug addiction is not a new phenomenon in our society. What has though changed is the way it has gradually crept, into the day to day life, of every section of the society. People have been taking to drugs as a habit, and they sometimes fail to shun drugs for life. The worst aspect of drug addiction is that people easily become habitual to it, without realising that they are addicted to it.
There was a time when frustration, rejection and emotional disturbances were the main reasons why a person chose drugs. Now we can add curiosity, spirit of adventure, peer group pressure and most of all, easy accessibility to the long list of reasons that make youngsters turn into addicts.
With the increasing rate of drug abuse, the youth is not only ruining their lives but also posing a threat to the society. Drugs are expensive and it is the high cost which can tempt an addict to fall into wrong hands thus choosing wrong ways that can tempt anyone, promising easy money.
Widespread use of drugs can also be considered as a reason that promotes terrorism indirectly. It is in practicality a small addiction, but when you add up those addicts across the world, it is a successful way of generating huge sums of money to fuel those acts of terror.
